Department of Sociology

Department of Sociology is one of the most vibrant & fast evolving departments of Govt. College Arki, Distt Solan, HP. The department has two sanctioned posts of teachers who cater to the academic needs of about seventy students enrolled in the UG classes. The department offers ‘Bachelor of Arts’ Pass course in Sociology in accordance with the syllabi framed & devised by the board of studies, department of Sociology, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla HP.

The department is well equipped with ICT enabled smart class rooms encompassing latest teaching aids. “Young Sociological Society" is a body of students mentored by the faculty to organize Study tours, surveys, quizzes, and expert lectures. The office bearers of the society are elected through a free & fair democratic process, conducted by the students themselves. The society organizes different activities throughout the year to sensitize the students on various social issues in the society. It also provides them an opportunity to enhance their understanding & hone their analytical & critical abilities regarding various social , issues/problems & developments both at the local as well as global level. The college library has a vast collection of Sociology text as well as reference books with a fresh & new addition of books every year.
