Department of History

The Department of History established in govt college Arki is enriched by a competent and committed faculty. Department offers three year undergraduate and two year postgraduate programs for the students. The faculty members engage students in diverse ways by teaching and mentoring. There is a constant interface between students and teachers within and beyond the classroom which helps them to understand issues in a more nuanced manner and comprehend, analyze and interpret their subject and their passage of life with dexterity and humanness. The Department of History organizes out of the box learning through annual seminars/presentations, museum tours, heritage walks, historical tours, competitive programs including debate, quiz , group discussion and seminars. This, in turn, shapes the mind of the students for broader and better understanding of the world around them. History not only covers the biological evolution of mankind but also covers the cultural evolution in terms of the evolution of architecture, painting, sculpture, music, dance, drama, human relations within community and outside. Besides, it covers inter alia state formations, nation building, colonial struggles, freedom movements, world wars, globalization, etc , both in the context of India and the world. Students get the opportunity to have a career in various fields viz, Teaching, Publishing, Administrative Services, Archaeology, Mass Media, and Travel and Tourism along with Journalism.
